the Source brand

The Source is a vegan superfood cafe located in the Willow Glen neighborhood of San Jose, California. Opened in August of 2016, I worked directly with the founder and owner starting in December 2015 until the grand opening, helping her develop the branding of the company. The owner wanted the branding to convey the image of sophistication, yet still maintaining a modern feeling to it. To do this, I designed signs, labels, tees, booklets and other promotional materials with a balance traditional linework that was complemented by contemporary font choices. My work is still used in the store today. I continued doing graphic design for The Source until September 2019.

I designed a single bottle label that varied in color dependent what product it was placed upon. Three versions of the label existed: cold pressed juice, nut-based milk, and alkalized water. I decided to break away from the traditional rectangular label found on most bottles by having the logo extrude past the edges of a basic rectangle, so that customers’ eyes would be drawn to it, and to emphasize on the brand’s identity.
