The Project
We were tasked with designing a contemporary art center to be constructed on the Blair Hills in Culver City, California. The program emphasized the visual arts, performing arts, and education, through the inclusion of art galleries, a performing arts hall, and classrooms.
Interior Gallery
The main galleries sit on a large ramp that descends from the entry on the second story to the ground floor. These different galleries are divided by a center wall that breaks halfway through to allow patrons to look down into the lower gallery space from above.
Temporary Exhibition Space
A temporary exhibition space is accessible from the bridge and from the education portion of the building. A double-height space allowed for the best flexibility of possible installations that could be hosted.
